What can go into a dumpster in Anmore?

Private haulers and receiving facilities set rules for rented bins. Identify every material and confirm the destination before booking, especially for renovation or mixed loads.

Metro Vancouver disposal bans and surcharges apply. Keep food scraps, recyclable materials and stewardship products out of garbage loads.

Common loads (confirm first)

  • Bagged non-recyclable household garbage
  • Furniture accepted by the chosen hauler and facility
  • Approved construction and renovation debris
  • Separated clean wood, metal, gypsum and other recoverable materials sent to an appropriate facility

Keep out unless specifically approved

  • Food scraps, yard trimmings and curbside recyclables
  • Paint, solvents, fuels, batteries and biomedical waste
  • Electronics, propane cylinders, used oil and other stewardship products
  • Asbestos-containing material, contaminated soil and liquids

Never hide hazardous or restricted material in a mixed load. Ask the receiving facility about testing, packaging and advance-approval requirements.

Who handles residential collection?

The Village funds and manages garbage and organics collection. Recycle BC manages residential packaging and paper recycling. Both use GFL as the collection contractor.

Friday collection and wildlife rules

Use the annual calendar for holiday changes and exact garbage weeks:

  • Organics and separated recycling are collected every Friday
  • Garbage carts are collected every other Friday
  • Collection begins at 7 a.m.; carts and recycling may be placed curbside between 5:30 and 7 a.m.
  • Garbage and organics carts must be unlocked for collection, then locked and stored by 10 p.m. that day
  • Recycling uses separate containers for mixed containers, paper, and glass bottles and jars

Keep cart lids and locks working and store attractants securely. Contact GFL for missed collections, damaged recycling containers and collection-service concerns.

Drop-off and disposal near Anmore

Anmore has curbside carts but no general-purpose municipal dump. The nearest broad-service regional facility is the United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre in Coquitlam.

Check hours, vehicle restrictions, material preparation and fees directly with the facility before leaving. Secure every load in transit.

The Village directs residents with large amounts of yard waste and many depot-only recyclables to United Boulevard. That facility does not accept food waste from self-haul customers.

Large items, dumpster rental or junk removal?

The Village’s published curbside program is cart-based and does not list regular bulky-item pickup. Arrange a suitable private service or confirm self-haul acceptance for furniture, renovation debris and loads that do not fit the carts.

Placing dumpsters and storage containers

Keep a rented container entirely on suitable private property whenever possible. A container that occupies or obstructs a Village road or right-of-way requires advance direction from the Village.

Anmore’s online Highway Use Permit form includes “Temporary Road Obstruction Permit” and “Other” uses. Contact the Building Department before delivery so staff can confirm the required approval, documents and current fee.

Plan private-property placement

  • Keep the bin and collection truck within the property.
  • Protect septic systems, drainage, utilities, trees and soft ground.
  • Maintain fire access, sightlines and safe pedestrian movement.

If public space may be affected

  • Apply before reserving or delivering the container.
  • Provide the site, dimensions, dates and proposed traffic controls.
  • Follow all safety, insurance, restoration and removal conditions.
